The competition:

This competition is run every year, and is open to all high schools students across New Zealand. We encourage everyone to enter – it doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned pro or have never tried olympiad style problems before. The problems are designed to be fun to work on, and you have weeks to think about them. The competition is completely free to enter, so even if you didn’t manage to solve any, you should still scan your workings and submit. Everyone that participates in the NZMO1 will be considered for invitation to other events, such as the NZMO round 2, the training camp in January, the Female and Non-Binary camp in April, and potentially other camps and events.
For more information about the NZMO, including who is eligible to enter, please see the regulations: https://www.mathsolympiad.org.nz/competitions/nzmo/.
Who are we?
The New Zealand Maths Olympiad Committee provides maths enrichment materials and selects and trains New Zealand high-school students for participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad. Their overriding objective is to raise the level of motivation, enjoyment and achievement in Mathematics of all gifted students in NZ, so that ultimately they get a huge kick start for mathematical tertiary study and life beyond. Through contact with like minded peers, locally, nationally and internationally the students can experience intellectual stimulation on a level not available to them at school.
